Medieval
Pearl & Turquoise Ring
# 12-418
This medieval-themed 14k yellow gold pearl and turquoise ring is from the beginning of the Mid-Victorian period (1860-1885) as jewelry and clothing was transitioning from modesty to opulence. Previously, women wore very little jewelry but the trend was toward heavy, massive and solid jewelry that was worn at all times for all occasions. This ecclesiastical design appealed to the romantic nature of the Victorians.
Pearls have been popular with women throughout the ages; they are always considered to be in good taste and can be worn for both formal and casual engagements. Turquoise embellishments were especially popular during this era.
