Moonstone Wire Ring # 12-382
This beautiful 14k yellow gold, moonstone ring was produced as the mid-Victorian Era gave way to the Late Victorian and Edwardian Eras (1885-1910). During that period, clothing became lighter and softer. Jewelry also became lighter in scale often using flowers as motifs and a variety of gemstones, such as the moonstone, for adornment.
The moonstone’s popularity during that period reflects the designers’ need for just a hint of color and the glow added an aura of mystery.
The band is comprised of a braid of 14k yellow gold. It appears to be very delicate but is sturdy and durable to the touch.
Moonstones symbolized the moon and have been designated as one of the birthstones for June babies. They were a favorite stone to give to sweethearts, as they were believed to instill love, romance and passion.
