Victorian Sapphire Gold Ring # 11-345
This beautiful 14k yellow gold sapphire ring is dainty but exquisite. The setting is simple yet graceful, with wonderful details that accent the light blue, round sapphire. The stone is securely set with 6 prongs. It was designed and produced in the 1880’s – as the Mid-Victorian Era gave way to the late-Victorian/Edwardian Era.
During the Mid-Victorian period (1860-1885) jewelry and clothing was transitioning from modesty to opulence. Previously, women wore very little jewelry but the trend was toward heavy, massive and solid jewelry that was worn at all times for all occasions.
During the Late Victorian and Edwardian Eras (1885-1910) clothing became lighter and softer. Jewelry also became lighter in scale often using flowers as motifs and garnets for embellishment.
Sapphire is the birthstone for September, is given to commemorate 45th anniversaries, and symbolizes clear thinking.
