14K Gold Sapphire & Diamond Edwardian Ring # 11-338

This beautiful 14k yellow gold sapphire and diamond ring displays a symmetrical design, symbolic of the Mid-Victorian/Edwardian Era. The deep blue sapphire is bounded by twelve fully facetted diamonds, all of the same shape and size. The 14k yellow gold band and setting add to the femininity and grace of the ring. And, while the sapphire is the first to catch your eye, the diamonds sparkle and catch the rays of light.

During the Late Victorian and Edwardian Eras (1885-1910), clothing became lighter and softer. Jewelry also became lighter in scale often using flowers as motifs and garnets for embellishment.

Diamonds have been coveted and used to embellish jewelry and accessories throughout the ages; the Greeks wore them into battle believing them to symbolize "inconquerability". Diamonds are the birthstone of April and are given to commemorate 10th, 30th, and 60th anniversaries. They symbolize innocence.

Sapphires became popular in the 1860’s and have been designated as the birthstone for September. They symbolize clear thinking.

There is a maker’s/designer’s mark inside the band.
