Victorian Diamond Ring # 11-303

This beautiful, eye-catching 14k yellow gold diamond ring is wonderfully unique. It was created around 1880 during the mid-Victorian Era and, true to the time, the flower design is large and is accented with a 25 point diamond.

During the Mid-Victorian period (1860-1885) jewelry and clothing were transitioning from modesty to opulence.  Previously, women wore very little jewelry but the trend was toward heavy, massive and solid jewelry that was worn at all times for all occasions.

Diamonds have been coveted and used to embellish jewelry and accessories throughout the ages; the Greeks wore them into battle believing them to symbolize “inconquerability”. Diamonds are the birthstone of April and are given to commemorate 10th, 30th, and 60th anniversaries.  They symbolize innocence.
